Hi girls,
I haven’t even finished listening to the podcast yet, just wanted to clarify what they might have meant by “white Massai”. The autobiography of Corinne Hofmann has the same title and was quite a bestseller in Germany: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corinne_Hofmann
She is Swiss and was married to a Massai, and was therefore called “the white Massai”.
Hope that helped a bit!

You two are a hoot! Loved your podcast. I agree, I think that they were referring to the book above. But perhaps the translation did not make that clear. Also I have a warning to others - do not let your adult daughters see June Burda or you WILL be sewing for them!

OMG, you both are coming to NYC?!?! I would love to meet you in person. If you have time, I would love to meet up for coffee or shopping. Please let me know…

Loved the podcoast after a minute’s twee start. The suede bikini top doesn’t fit. Now, I love safari looks, a great solution when a suit is called for but too,too business. Having spent 20 years covering China, I too wish for more East Asian inspired stuff. But the obi, and kimono dress were great. I guess I revert to safari/trench because I was a foreign correspondent for half my adult love. Meanwhile, here in Switzerland, as well as in Germany, we all know who the White Massai lady is. Since I spent so many decades as the white-bread chick working overseas, well, I didn’t find it anything much. Its the Karen Blixen allure and it sells to me. Great hearing your voices.

Half my adult life…that was a Freudian error awaiting therapy…I guess I loved my years in Asia that much!

I don’t have a subscription, and when I saw the “proud white massai” caption I put the magazine down and left the store. It may be referring to a German book, but they do the same basic african=exotic spread over and over again and really don’t seem to see why that’s a problem.
